TODAY’S CHUCKLE
Proper attire
One Sunday morning an old cowboy entered a church just before services were to begin. The old man and his clothes were spotlessly clean -- jeans, a denim shirt and boots, all worn and ragged. In his hand he carried a worn out old hat and an equally well-worn Bible.
The church he entered was in a very upscale and exclusive part of the city. It was the largest and most beautiful church the old cowboy had ever seen. The people of the congregation were all dressed with expensive clothes and jewelry.
As the cowboy took a seat, the others moved away from him. No one greeted, spoke to, or welcomed him. They were all appalled by his appearance and did not attempt to hide it.
As the old cowboy was leaving the church, the preacher approached him and asked the cowboy to do him a favor: "Before you come back here again, have a talk with God and ask him what he thinks would be appropriate attire for worship in church." The old cowboy assured the preacher he would.
The next Sunday, he showed back up for the services wearing the same old jeans, shirt, boots, and hat. Once again, he was completely shunned and ignored. The preacher approached the cowboy and said, "I thought I asked you to speak to God before you came back to our church."
"I did," replied the old cowboy.
"If you spoke to God, what did He tell you the proper attire should be for worshipping here?" asked the preacher.
"Well, sir, God told me that He didn't have a clue what I should wear.
He said He'd never been in this church."
Thanks to Tresia Smith for submitting this “Chuckle” for our enjoyment.

“Cold-Hard” Facts
You know the “Cold-Hard” facts of God’s Word are tough and, most of the time, offensive.
But, God loves us too much to let us have our own way about things. His Word, thought it be hard, is for safety and direction.
I know that sometimes in our life, the situations and problems we face, and the outcome it brings, especially when it’s bad, one would think that God would change His mind on some of our dilemmas and ease up on His Word.
But, because of who He is, He will never change His Word or His mind for you or anyone else.
Psalms 119:89 says, “Forever Oh Lord Thy Word is settled in heaven.” (And, there’s a reason for that!) Hebrews 13:8 says, “Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today and forever.” (And, there’s a reason for that!) What is that reason – that reason is YOU!
So remember, although it’s scary, painful, and hard at times, and we feel we need to be understood – well, here are the “Cold-Hard” facts. He does understand you and that’s why His Word will never change!
EVENTS – EVENTS - EVENTS”
“Graduation Ceremonies” will be held for our Bible Training School and Jacksonville Theological Seminary graduates at 7PM on July 25th, with rehearsals at 6PM, Jul 24th. Come and cheer on our 2010 graduates – they put in a LOT of midnight oil to earn their certificate and/or degree and deserve our support and recognition!
Our “White Water Rafting” trip is now closed. However, if you missed the cut-off date, please see our Church Administrator (Mr John Weisner) and he will check to see if we can get you in with our group.
